Make English America's Official Language
So far Congress has not worked to make English the official language of our
nation.
It must do so.
According to recent U.S. Census figures, over 24 million Americans cannot
speak English -- thats more than double the 1990 total. Increasingly,
English is being replaced by Spanish, Chinese, Korean and other languages.
It is a matter of public record that the federal government has so far refused
to declare English as the official language of the United States. In fact,
the government continues enacting laws requiring the use of foreign languages
in more and more official capacities -- and all at taxpayers expense!
In India, EVERY college graduate speaks English. It is estimated that by
2010 the largest English speaking nation will be China. These are natives
of another nation and they seem to think speaking English is very important...how
can we think less?
If someone leaves their home to come to America, they must expect to live
in a different culture than they left behind. Othewise why leave home. If
you move to France, don't expect the French to learn English just to make
YOUR life easier while you are in their country. They are proud of
their lanquage as they should be. If you move to America, you should
learn English. It is part of what we are as a nation and if you can't respect
your adopted homeland you have the right to leave. No one is stopping you.
But if you stay, don't ask the rest of us to embrace every lanquage on the
planet for YOUR convenience. No...you learn to speak English.
Learning English the first step to showing your respect for America when
you come here.
