Have you ever heard of TC / TCG / LaGrande /
NGSCB / Longhorn / Palladium / TCPA ?
You really should take note. Learn what Microsoft, Intel, AMD and
many other major corporations have in mind for YOUR future of computing.
These giants have formed a consortium to avoid anti-trust suits with
the goal of talking Congress into letting them have almost total control
over what you can and cannot do with your own computer. The methods of control
they propose would extend to the ability to search everyone's computer for
any particular document and delete them without your knowledge and consent.
It could be used to prevent you from changing software from, say Microsoft
Word to any other companies's word processor or to be unable to open documents
from your family, friends or office staff unless unless you bought a Microsoft
application that had "permission" to do so.
What if you PURCHASED a new CD only to find you could not lend it to a friend
to listen because it could only be played on your own player...not even in
your own computer CD player. What if the DVD you buy can only be watched
3 times unless you pay again?
What if you download a free Open Source office program like
OpenOffice which can
do everything that Microsoft Office does...but for free, only to find
out it either will not run on your "TC enabled" computer or that you could
not share your documents with anyone else, possibly including others using
the same OpenSource software you used because your computer says it is not
"Trusted".
Trusted by who?
These are a few of the things possible with the new "Trusted Computing" standards
being touted by the big money people who are in a position to buy Congress.
Consortiums like this do not do these things because they want to be
nice to YOU, it is because they want to control your computer so you HAVE
to buy their products or not use your computer at all.
Look at their official web site. Anyone can join the consortium. It is non-profit
(?) but unless you can pony up $55,000 per year for a regular membership,
you have no say. The least expensive membership is $1,000 per year
with almost no say in anything. If you are a small software company, what
chance do you have that your product will be allowed to exist as a "Trusted"
application?
"Trusted" computing, often called "Treacherous Computing" could mean the
death of Open Source and freeware software because, unless their product
is deemed trusted it may not install at all or may barely function as desired.
Developers of these products will not be able to afford the high fees necessary
to assure they will be allowed to run on YOUR computer. Fees not paid
to you but to the very companies they are trying to compete against.
Make sure to let your Federal Representatives know you are opposed to any
such infringements on your rights. This is nothing more than a bid to allow
certain "aligned" companies to create a total monopoly over your computer
use to the extent that they could have the right to log into your computer
and delete anything they did not want you to have.
Here are some valuable links to learn more. Read them. It is your future
of computing and your personal privacy that are at stake.
Don't wait until it is too late. Early TC chips
are already installed in some newer computers. Some printer ink cartridges
already have a version installed so you cannot use a competitors or refilled
cartridge in YOUR OWN printer.
( For years, Bill Gates has dreamed of finding a way to make the Chinese
pay for software: TC looks like being the answer to his prayer. I
suppose Bill is having trouble with his bank account running low? )
"Those concerns have risen up recently in the form of stated policies ( China
) favoring the use of the Linux operating system in government agencies,
as well as a recent flurry of government commentaries warning of a U.S. "back
door" to Windows operating systems. Officials have said China must develop
its own OS to prevent an electronic military attack."
This, and a majority of web sites around the world run on a LINUX platform.
You can install and run thousands of applications on your own PC ( And still
keep your Windows OS ). For more information on breaking your dependance
on Bill Gates, Visit these sites where you can download your own FREE operating
system and many free software programs.
